Crisis PR in action
17 March, 2017The fake news factory ran by the oligarchic Capital media group is throwing its entire capacity into a crisis management PR campaign in support of Lozan Panov, the infamous chairman of the Supreme Court of Appeal. The magistrate with dubious reputation appeared in an “ad-lib” interview for Lyuba Kulezich taken on the steps of the Supreme Judicial Council. In the piece, Panov is doing his best to paper over revelations that he has been pressuring some of his colleagues in the appointment process for the new Judicial Council and has been actively involved in politics in contravention of the judicial system’s rules of ethics. The choice of interviewer is also no coincidence - Kulezich is one of the few convenient and uncritical media personalities, who had managed to secure an interview with another famous oligarch close to the Capital circle, fugitive banker Tsvetan Vassilev, at his hiding place in Belgrade. Perhaps this explains why she failed to mention reports about pressure exerted on representatives of the judiciary, and continuously offered prompts to Panov, helping him to navigate his explanation as to how is it that inviting Romanian prosecutor Laura Kovesi to a conference in Sofia a week before the elections is not a form of campaigning. Despite the soft-ball questions, Panov was unable to erase his image as a puppet controlled by the country’s mafia.
