Austrian music weeks kick off in Sofia
17 March, 2017
One of the best Bulgarian violinists, Albena Danailova, the first woman concertmaster in the over 150-year-old history of the Vienna Philharmonic, is set to play at Bulgaria Hall on 2 April, BTA reported. Her concert with the Sofia Philharmonic will kick off the Austrian Music Weeks, organised under the patronage of H.E. Roland Hauser, ambassador of Austria to Bulgaria.
An undeniable talent and an exceptional professional, Albena Danailova earned her place in the Vienna Philharmonic after winning a tough competition in 2008. Following a two-year trial period, she was named a concertmaster in 2010. Danailova was born in Sofia into a family of professional musicians. She started playing the violin at the age of 5 and gave her first concert at 12. She is an alumnus of the College of Music and Theatre in Rostock, Germany. Danailova has also served as concertmaster for the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bavarian State Orchestra in Munich.
