Unseen Theatre launches new season
9 September, 2017
Unseen Theatre is launching its new season on 11 September with The Shadow of My Soul project ahead of its participation in the Visiting Harlequin International Puppet Theatre Festival in Omsk, Russia (21-28 September). The play was put on to great success on Bulgarian stage last year, following the theatre company’s inspiring visit to Moscow.
Unseen Theatre, led by Velimir Velev, a professor at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts, is the world’s only company composed of ten young blind actors who, without the aid of visual contact, create art in the field of visual theatre (shadow and puppet theatre), relying on their “inner sight” and intuition. Its shows are emotional not only by virtue of the fact that they seemingly defy human limitations. With their poetic nature and surprising techniques, they reach the most intimate corners of a viewer’s soul. Without pretence, by sharing their modest life experience the actors actually help us – the seeing audience – to think about ourselves, our choices and lives, and to make a change.
