Recent past brought to life in Sofia
13 January, 2018
The main hall of the Central Railway Station in Sofia has been turned into an exhibition space documenting the country's transformation over the 10 years since Bulgaria joined the European Union. Until 18 January, any passenger walking through the station will have the chance to see the collection entitled simply Exhibition of the Recent Past and realised under the slogan Things Are Changing.
It includes exhibits that present the clearest illustrations of and testaments to the change that has occurred in many areas in the past ten years - freedom of movement, roaming services, infrastructure, environmental protection, education, consumer protection, healthcare, energy, culture and food. Some of the exhibits serve a purely illustrative purpose and hark back to the time when we could not travel freely across Europe and food companies were not required to list every ingredient of their product on the label. Others are interactive and help people learn some of their rights as citizens of the EU.
The exhibition is organised by the European Commission's Representation in Bulgaria and can be viewed by anyone at any time of the day. It is located near the main entrance of the station's ground floor.
