Steve Jobs brought to life in opera
13 May, 2017
An opera commemorating the co-founder of Apple Steve Jobs will have its world premiere at the open-air summer stage of the Santa Fe Opera in New Mexico in July, the Associated Press reported.
The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs has earned the financial backing of opera companies in San Francisco and Seattle, ensuring the musical meditation on the iconic entrepreneur will travel to America's high-tech enclave. Besides these two companies, Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University has also signed on as a co-producer.
Sponsors of the Jobs opera are counting on composer and electronic DJ Mason Bates and librettist Mark Campbell to deliver a "deeply layered, moving portrayal of a man grappling with the complex priorities of life, family and work," in the words of San Francisco opera General Manager Matthew Shilvock.
